Why
can't I save anything to my hosting account?
All web hosting accounts are protected by a limit called a "quota."
This is the maximum amount of data you can save on your account.
If this amount is exceeded the server prevents you from storing
anymore information in your account.
What
do I do if my quota is exceeded?
Digital Indigo's quotas are relatively high, and should easily
allow you to store all of your web content without trouble. However,
if you do exceed your quota, you have two options. The first is
to delete files which you are not using. These may be older files
that are no longer displayed on your web site. Your second option
is to upgrade to a higher-capacity hosting account.
Are
there any files/directories I should check?
Most users...
Most users that experience quota problems have a lot of mail stored
in their account. Our suggestion is to download these files to
your local computer and remove them from your account. You mail
files can typically be found in the "mail" directory
if you FTP into your account.
Advanced
Users...
If you use your account to compile programs check for core dump
files, usually labeled "core". You may also find files
labeled "a.out" depending on the language you use for
compilation. Also you may have .Zip, .Tar, or .gz files that you
may have temporarily stored in your account.
Space
Summary...
If you can't seem to locate where your space is going, contact
Digital Indigo for a summary of files and directories using large
amounts of space on your account.
File/Account
Usage :
Please be aware of the usage policy on your account. Chances are,
if you exceed your quota, you are using your account in a way
that it was not intended for. Please check to make sure you do
not have any files that meet the descriptions listed below.
IMPORTANT
NOTE! Your hosting account is to be used for hosting files only!
Files
stored on the server are to be of a web-related nature. Storage
of large media files, backup files, file archives, or files deemed
to be of "excessive size" are prohibited.
Examples
of some prohibited files:
- Web
Sites for Companies Other Than Your Own
- Large
MP3 files
- AVI/Quicktime
files that are several minutes long.
- Archives
of files unrelated to the web (such as a backup of your home
or office machine).
- CDDA
files
