99% isn't good enough...
In the Internet business reliability is important. If our servers only did a 99% job, your web site and email would be down about 3.5 days each year! This would obviously be unacceptable.

Our quality equipment allows us to only be off-line for about 3 hours each year (while we perform upgrades and enhancements). This means that we have a reliability of about a 99.999%.

Servers...
Digital Indigo uses Dell rackmount servers. These servers are very redundant to ensure data integrity and reliable service.

For instance, servers are equipped with two power supplies. This means a power supply can go bad, and the secondary supply will continue to run the server. The bad power supply can even be replaced without ever turning the server off. This means no downtime for power supplies.

Each server is also equipped with two hard drives. These drives are not the typical drives you find in the computer on your desk at work, or at home. They are very high-speed devices designed to deliver data at a high throughput.

Each of the two hard drives on a given server is an exact copy of the other. This means a hard drive can fail completely, and the server will continue to run without losing any data, or going off-line. Much like the power supplies the bad hard drive can be pulled out without turning off the server. A new hard drive is then inserted, and that drive is automatically updated to an exact duplicate of the good hard drive. If a drive would ever go bad, you wouldn't know. We can completely replace a drive without any downtime or data loss whatsoever.

Facility...
Digital Indigo uses a telecommunications-grade server facility located in Lancaster County. The facility has precise climate control. This means the servers are kept in a consistent humidity and temperature range.

If the power would fail to the hosting facility, a UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply) gives temporary power to the servers. If the power continues to stay out for an extended period of time, generators automatically turn on to provide several days worth of power to the systems.

Network...
Digital Indigo uses high speed DS3 lines to their servers. The DS3 lines are also complemented by multiple DS1 lines. This means that even if a primary Internet connection to the server facility fails, data will be automatically rerouted to backup lines. This means your data is available regardless of a line failure.

Costs
Digital Indigo's hosting prices start at around $165 a year. Where else can you find an industry that is 99.999% reliable, operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, provides service to thousands of requests per hour, all for less than 46 cents per day?
