Digital
Indigo provides various ways for users to put their documents
and designs on the web. For general information on using your account for the first time, please click here.
This following text is for persons using Microsoft FrontPage to publish to their website.
Accessing Your Website
FrontPage extensions are provided for free to anyone with a domain name that is hosted on Digital Indigo servers. If you haven't already requested your FrontPage extensions to be enabled, you must do so. FrontPage is NOT enabled on your site unless you specifically request it.
Once your extensions are enabled, go to the File menu and click on Open Web...
You will be asked to enter the filename. Enter http://www.yourwebsite.com
After a brief period of time, you will be presented with a box requesting your username and password. Enter the username and password you received from Digital Indigo upon setup of your account.
After successful login, you should see a list of the files on your website. Since this is your first time, you'll probably only see one file called index.php.
Removing
the "Coming Soon" Page
Since this is your first time publishing to your account,
you'll want to remove the page that lets visitors know your
website is "coming soon."
As mentioned above, you will see a file called index.php.
This is the file that displays, "Coming Soon."
Since we no longer wish to display the "Coming Soon"
message, highlight the file, and delete it.
Publishing
Your Own Pages
FrontPage makes it easy to publish your pages. For instance you can go under the File menu, and click New Page. This will give you a word processor-like environment. Once you enter some text click on File and then Save. For your first web page save it as the name index.htm.
Important: Your
files must end in ".html" or ".htm"
if they are to be displayed on the web. FrontPage
will add the ".htm" extension
to your filenames when you save the file.
The first file a web viewer will see when they come into your website is called index.htm. That means your initial page must be called index.htm.
Advanced Design
Eventually you'll want to create your own graphics, add logo's, link pages, and do other web publishing techniques. Be sure to thoroughly read your FrontPage instructions to learn how to do this.
We offer publishing and development as a separate service. We will be glad to help you with your publishing and design needs at our hourly rate, found by clicking the Prices button on the top left of this page.
